Cannon Beach

The girls and I got to spend Monday at Cannon Beach with Scott, Tristan and the rest of the Symons family. It was a beautiful day and fun to see the girls enjoy it so much this time. They were wiped out after spending a couple hours running around on the beach. Since they took a late nap in the ergos they didn't feel much like sleeping in the car on the way home. They also didn't feel much like sitting in their car seats - Eliza cried and whined "I want Cot (scott)" and "I want titan (Tristan)" for a good hour on the drive home. I had to talk to them for the last hour about our house and the animals because I couldn't stand the crying or the Wheels on the Bus song from their CD anymore. It was pretty funny because Adie just wanted to talk about Delilah (our cow) and Eliza just wanted to talk about her bear. What I was saying made no sense but as long as I threw Delilah and Bear in there once in a while they stayed happy. Eliza

One and a half

We just had their 18 month checkup. Most of our questions were on discipline...we had a rough three to four weeks. They were crabby and starting to throw fits so the Dr. was giving us some good ideas and just helping us see they are old enough to understand what they are doing. Then when she was doing their checkups the saw that they both had double ear infections. So the last month must have been a combination of being sick and testing us. Either way the last few days have been so much better. They're still little runts, barely 20 pounds each but I'm over worrying about that. They are starting to eat a little better, but they have enough energy so I know they're getting enough. Both are talking more and more and starting to put 2 or three words together. Eliza has gone to the bathroom on her little toilet several times now. It's quite an ordeal because they both have to be totally naked to sit on the toilet and they like to do it every time I change their diapers now (they get a cookie). I have to be ready for 20
minutes just to let them sit there and get them both diapered and dressed again. I called Ryan one day at work afterwards so Eliza could tell him, then later that day when she went, she went and got my phone and brought it to me saying Dada, Dada. Cute - all things I know are just what other little kids are doing but to us it's pretty exciting to see them figuring things out. I wonder if everything will be this exciting with the next one? Here are a few pictures from this week. Karen came over with Jackson and his new little(but big) brother Grady. They loved taking care of Grady - it looked pretty funny because he is 3 months old and has almost caught up with them in the weight category. Eliza eating a sour strawberry

Ashland

Annie and Ian have started a fun tradition of inviting the whole family to their house for Memorial Day weekend. Ila turns three this week so we got to celebrate with her, it's always fun to see Ian's parents too. We love seeing all of the cousins together, they have so much fun. I've got a lot of pictures I really like from this trip. The girls traded off being sick but luckily for us everyone is willing to help distract them, take them for walks..which allows us to enjoy ourselves - so thank you everyone. I'm bummed I didn't get a picture of Ben's second set of eyes but maybe Carrie and Jeremy did? We missed Livia! Dirty and tired after a fun weekend

Adie found the strawberries in Annie and Ian's garden - she's sharing one with Eliza here.

Visitors

Our friends Mike and Steph made the drive down from Vancouver B.C. this weekend with their boys Landon and Zack. We spent two nights at the beach and then two nights at our house together. The girls liked chasing after Landon and he was very cute with them. Zack is a few months younger than the girls and just a happy little boy. It was a fun weekend of just hanging out and playing with the kids. Carousel - Adie liked it this time, Eliza liked it until it started moving.

The kids loved feeding Delilah - Landon even let her lick his shoes. Of course the girls copied by sticking their little feet through the fence for her to taste.
